Building Affordable Alternatives to Standard Smart IPTV Solutions

In the images above we show how one can use affordable, linux-based computers such as the renowned Raspberry Pi (displayed in top image) to create IPTV services that minimise costs to customers. These small, intelligent devices can even interface with Patient Remote Control Handsets, allowing users to utilise the interactive functionality made possible with Smart TV Solutions - menu ordering, patient surveys, web browsing, video on demand, etc. This is made possible by utilising media player software such a Kodi.

Interactive IPTV Menu for Hospitals and Hotels

The above two menu screens serve as an example of how one might design their IPTV homepage. The System in using Macnetix software to create the interactive IPTV Menu. The two menu screens displayed both share the same layout, however this layout can be programmed/edited as required. Standard factory-issued remote control handsets are not necessary to control the interactive menu. In particular healthcare environments where such handsets may be considered impractical, Linkvue's Patient Media Inteface and Handset can be used to control the IPTV functions.

Kempsey District Hospital IPTV Installation

The left photo shows Linkvue's Assistant Engineer, Swar, programming Kempsey Hospital’s new IPTV Patient Entertainment System. The Hospital’s antennae is connected to a Streamer (the black box with the blue light below Swar’s hand) which is then programmed through his laptop. Here Swar is testing the IPTV system, by connecting an Ethernet cable into a Samsung Smart Hospitality TV. As you can see the signal is being received successfully by the networked display unit. The bottom right image shows the same Samsung Smart Hospitality TV hanging in a patient room. The TV’s Mirror functioning has been enabled, allowing our Engineer to display his phone’s music player on the big screen.
